Awe inspiring architectural finds?
Have you had any architectural finds in your travels that have just knocked your socks off? For me (Kate), churches usually do it. I am just awestruck at the immense presence I feel when I walk into them.
The Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Buffalo, NY was one of those moments. While not normally open to the public, we happened to stop by right before a wedding rehearsal and were given entry. It reminded me of Notre-Dame du Paris with its buttressed ceiling and stained glass windows. The one exception is that Notre-Dame is super dark inside. Both are incredibly beautiful.
If you’re in Buffalo, NY, this should be a stop. Definitely call the church office in advance to find out when they will be open to the public outside of worship hours if you don’t want to attend mass.
