Big Bend National Park Part II
While visiting Big Bend National Park , we took Grapevine Hills Road to Grapevine Hills Trail . The road out is about 7 or 8 miles and is not maintained all season. Once you get on the trail, it’s about 2.2 miles. The first 0.8 mile is pretty easy! A bit of up and down and uneven path, but very well traveled. After the easy part, there is a sign that the next 0.25 miles is very steep. It was CORRECT!
Lisa and I climbed our way to the top while the guys stayed at the bottom and waited about 30-45 minutes for us to make it up to Balanced Rock and back down. There was some light bouldering action going on and I was super glad to have my hiking boots! We celebrated a bit when we made it to the top!
If you look closely at one of the panoramas, you can see Ron and Steve chillin’ on a rock, watching their phones. Cell service was at least OK while in the park.
