Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham, TX
Our friends told us about the Blue Bell Creameries being in Brenham, TX. Since we were there right before Thanksgiving the factory observation deck was closed but we took a self-guided tour of their museum and grounds. We also stopped in their ice cream shop for a $1 cup of deliciousness!
Did you know that Blue Bell started in 1907 making butter from excess cream left over from the local farmers? Originally named Brenham Creamery Company, they started producing ice cream in 1911. Back then they only produced two gallons per day! Now, more than a century later, Blue Bell’s ice cream is sold in stores in about half of the United States.
We both tried specialty flavors that you can only get on site - Steve had a triple chocolate flavor, and Kate had cinnamon. YUM!
Isn’t the little free library adorable?
