Top things we did while in Brevard, North Carolina

Brevard, North Carolina has a beautiful little downtown area. Our stay was rather short – only 4 nights. Next time we would definitely stay much longer.

Around Brevard, NC

One day Steve and I went into Brevard for a few hours. We ate lunch at an old soda fountain called Rocky’s Grill and Soda Shop (unfortunately the grill permanently closed after we were there, but there is still a corner market). After lunch, we explored downtown a bit. It’s full of great shops and restaurants. As we were shopping in an awesome antique store called “Mantiques”, the skies opened up and it poured for a solid 30 minutes. It was the perfect place to be during the storm – there was so much to look at!

Hiking Moore Cove Falls

While visiting the Brevard area we also did a short hike in the Pisgah National Forest, specifically up to the Moore Cove Falls waterfall. The hike was pretty easy for us and we’re not experienced hikers at all. The were a couple of challenges on our hike, the biggest being hiking back to our truck in the rain. We tried waiting out the rain storm, but it is the mountains and who knows how long that would’ve taken. Fortunately we were at least a little prepared for the weather.

Ice Cream Treat

Dolly’s Dairy Bar right on the edge of the Pisgah National Forest was a welcome stop. I think we ate “dinner” there twice during our week stay. Keep in mind this establishment may have seasonal hours, so check if they are open before you head over there. The ice cream was worth it though 🙂

Where We Stayed

We enjoyed our brief trip to this area of North Carolina and would definitely go back to hike and explore more. We stayed at Land Of The Waterfalls RV campground which was a little different for us. Up to this point we’ve mostly stayed in state parks. Land Of The Waterfalls is a small privately owned campground with both pull through and back in sites. The amenities were good and the location as easy to get to. We would stay here again.
