Green Lakes State Park: Beautiful But Watch Your Site Level
Upon advice of some New York RVers, we booked a stay at Green Lakes State Park (map ). This park is just east of Syracuse, NY and is right along the Erie Canal historic waterway . The park itself is awesome - it has a couple lakes, a beach, a restaurant, and lots of walking trails. It also has a path to connect it to the Erie Canal trail.
We were originally booked in Site 16, but the site ended up being so unlevel that we couldn’t use our stairs properly to get in and out of our RV! In the first two photos, you can see Steve standing with the RV - fully upright under the front cap and having to reach well over his head for the door handle.
We moved to Site 2 (which cannot be reserved in their system) and while it was slightly better from a leveling perspective, it was probably not big enough for our RV. It was VERY secluded, though!
We would definitely stay here again but would book a more level site. Sites in the Pinewoods campground that are along the perimeter and further from the bath house are more level than the pull through sites close to the bath house.
