Maine Gardens, Lobster Dinner & Fun Facts
We were grateful to spend an afternoon with our friends touring the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens . After our garden tour, we picked up some live lobster to cook the quintessential Maine dinner!
Not only did we have great company and food, we learned so many odd facts about lobster during this dinner. For instance, did you know that lobsters have two different claws? One is much larger and used for crushing shells and the other is more slender and has pincers which can act like scissors to get meat out of the crushed shells. Lobsters are either right handed or left handed and the crusher claw will end up on whichever hand they favor. Lobsters can live to be over 100 years old and they keep growing bigger with each year of age. Lastly, and probably most odd, lobster claws can GROW BACK during their annual molting cycle if they lose a claw!
