Our travel day to NJ was fairly uneventful
Our travel day to NJ was fairly uneventful, but we made a last minute decision that may have made it a longer travel day! We had been planning to take the Lewes-Cape May ferry from DE to NJ since our next stop is Cape May. After seeing the traffic and ferry and having spoken with a few friends about taking an RV across on the ferry, we decided we would drive rather than take the ferry. Whlie we would be encouraged to explore the ferry and watch the water go by, we didn’t like that we would have to leave the dogs in the truck (with no way to keep an eye on them) while exploring the ferry. So, we’ve put it on our list for another time.
We instead got to cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge on our drive. This bridge opened to the public in 1951 and was built with cooperation between Delaware and New Jersey. It has always been a toll road - the first toll was $0.75! Sadly we paid $9 for the bridge for both the truck and 5th wheel.
