Do you travel with a weather radio? If not, we highly recommend getting one ! Our little weather radio is super loud when it goes off. It has woken us on several occasions, but is very helpful in alerting us of inclement weather regardless of our location.

As we are leaving Alpena we experience the fog

As we are leaving Alpena, we get to experience the immediate onset of fog that was mentioned several times as one of the reasons that mariners have a difficult time navigating the waters of Thunder Bay. This fog seemingly came out of nowhere and continued for a few miles. It was hauntingly beautiful, but provided a first-hand insight into why there are so many shipwrecks in this area.

The Alpena Shipwreck Tour was really neat

The Alpena Shipwreck Tour was really neat! We went to two different shipwrecks in Thunder Bay on the tour. The captain said that sometimes you get to see three, but the water was a bit cloudy, so it took a bit of time to maneuver the glass bottom boat to get us right on top of the wrecks. We had so much fun that we forgot to take photos of the wrecks through the bottom of the boat!

We rode a portion of the Alpena Bi-Path

While in Alpena we rode a portion of the Alpena Bi-Path Trail on our e-bikes. The trail is approximately 14 miles with art and parks along the trail. We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon with our friends and took many stops to look at artwork and explore by foot along the way. One of our stops was at Island Park where we got off and walked around the island.
