Visiting Wytheville, VA with Friends

We drove down to nearby Wytheville, VA to have an early dinner at @skeetersworldfamous_hotdogs . They have really yummy hot dogs and ice cream!

After partaking in the delicious hotdogs and beautiful ice cream art at Skeeter’s, we walked a bit in the downtown historic area and found some AMAZING public art! The murals in this town are incredible - the Edith Bolling Wilson mural painted by Andrew Williams and the newest mural by Jon Murrill were our favorites!

Checking Out Tazewell, VA With The Towns Newest Residents

Today we met up with some friends to check out Tazewell, Virginia.

There are some lovely historic buildings in Tazewell, including 3 historic banks and a Ford dealership. Tazewell derives a lot of its tourism by being the gateway city to the Back of the Dragon , Virginia’s only dedicated motorcycle and sportscar route. This 32 mile stretch of road has 438 curves and winds through 3 mountain ranges! That’s a lot of turns! We’ve put this on our list for next time (or when we have something sportier than a F-450).

While attending the Grand Design Tennessee owners rally in…

While attending the Grand Design Tennessee owners rally in Sevierville, TN, we took an evening on our own and visited Gatlinburg. Steve and I were last in Gatlinburg summer of 2019. It hasn’t changed much, but we did try something new! We had dinner at Cherokee Grill and then went to Alibi , a new speakeasy, for drinks. Steve elected to have a Stella and ended the night with a Baileys on the rocks.

Do you have travel plans this year?

If you love to travel, safety is of utmost importance. We know so many people who have had their purses slashed or the contents of their bags stolen.

We really enjoyed our time at The Ridge RV Resort

We really enjoyed our time at The Ridge ! What a beautiful resort! We stayed up in the new section and while our site was not quite big enough for our RV and tow vehicle, we made it work without being too far in the road.

There is so much to do in Sevier County, TN! The Ridge has great amenities and is super close to all Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have to offer. We were there for the Grand Design Tennessee Rally and it was awesome! It was great to connect with members of our Grand Design Family and attend a new rally for us.

Not a great way to end a travel day

Not a great way to end a travel day. Broken gib on our microwave slide. #IYKYK

This is supposedly a somewhat common issue on Schwintek slides, so I guess we’re fortunate that it hasn’t happened before now… especially since our Solitude has 3 of these slides!

We should have plenty of time this week to get it drilled out and riveted back in place. Let’s hope we don’t have to try and jack up the slide box.

First travel day together in the new truck!

The travel day went well, the dogs didn’t seem to notice that anything was different. And Kate likes the massaging seat option we have now!
