The lower falls of Tahquamenon State Park
The lower falls of Tahquamenon State Park were by far our favorite of the two. While not as impressive in size as the upper falls , there are actually more waterfalls. 💦
👣 The park is nicely developed to provide an easy walking experience (and most of the park is handicapped accessible) with paved path and boardwalk, and many more vantage points of the falls. The trails aren’t perfectly marked so take a photo of the map and look at it often if you have any impediments.
😍 One of my (Kate) favorite viewpoints at the lower falls was on the island trail as you round the northeast side of the island (we went in a counterclockwise rotation on the trail). There are no waterfalls at this point, but you have a gorgeous view of the river and the vegetation in it (see 7th photo for a glimpse of this beauty!).
