Visiting White Sands National Park
While in Alamogordo, we ventured to White Sands National Park a couple times. We had so much fun with our friends that we didn’t take many photos!
On our first adventure to the park, we walked around the visitors center and museum. After going to the visitor center, we took the Dunes Nature trail, which is about a 1 mile trail into the sand dunes and learned about the wildlife that lives in the park. We also had lunch at one of the covered picnic tables in the park then attempted to sled down the dunes (attempted being the key word!).
We came back another evening for a sunset Ranger led walk. We learned a lot about the movement of the dunes and the history of the area on the walk, and really enjoyed seeing the park at sunset!
Highly recommend doing a Ranger led walk if you have the opportunity.
