We ventured out to Rockport Beach park
We ventured out to Rockport Beach park one evening while in the area. Rockport has some unique public art.
First is the Big Blue Crab . Dating back to the 1950’s a paper mache crab used to sit on top of Dorothy’s Famous Crab Cakes. After Dorothy’s shut down, the crab was moved to the park. In 2017 Hurricane Harvey finally took the crab out and the city had it rebuilt with steel and weather resistant powder coat. It shines as an iconic landmark for all around!
The second piece at the beach park is Steve Russell’s “Cultural Interface” which depicts the initial conversations between European settlers and Native Americans. It is a testament to the history of the area.
We really enjoyed the walk in the park!
