Visiting the Chapel of the Holy Cross
We visited the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona and it was truly awe-inspiring. Perched between the red rock formations, this architectural marvel was completed in 1956, a vision brought to life local rancher and sculptor Marguerite Brunswig Staude.
Inspired by the Empire State Building, Marguerite collaborated with architects Richard Hein and August K. Strotz to create a structure that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings.
The chapel’s most striking feature is the 90-foot iron cross that not only adorns the façade but also serves as a structural element. Inside, the floor-to-ceiling windows offer panoramic views of Sedona’s stunning landscape creating a serene atmosphere for reflection and prayer.
Open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, the chapel welcomes visitors of all faiths. Whether you’re seeking spiritual solace or simply wish to admire its unique design, the Chapel of the Holy Cross is a must-visit landmark in Sedona.
