Exploring Alexandria Bay's River Views and Charm
On our first afternoon we headed out to Alexandria Bay (map ) to explore and see why all our friends rave about this area.

Stormy Skies at Thousand Islands Campground
With all the traveling we do, would you believe that we rarely have travel days that are rainy? Much to our chagrin, the trip from Hector up to the Thousand Islands was a really stormy day.

Finger Lakes Rally: Grand Design Fun and Wine Country
After leaving the Syracuse area, we headed down to the Finger Lakes (map ). We stayed in a beautiful campground called Finger Lakes RV Resort in Hector, NY (map ). The week we were there, we attended the New York Grand Design Owners Rally with about 70 other units. We had a great time!

eBiking the Old Erie Canal Trail in New York
We found a local bike shop to have some tune up work done on our eBikes. The guys at Resource Cycling in Fayetteville, NY (map ) were easy to work with and had our bikes tuned up and back to us faster than they estimated! To test them out, we took an almost 14 mile ride from our camp site to the Old Erie Canal State Park across from the park.

Fort Stanwix: A Revolutionary War Turning Point
We took an afternoon to drive over to Fort Stanwix National Monument in Rome, NY (map ). Fort Stanwix is the name given to this fort by the British when it was built in 1758. British forces vacated the fort after the end of the French and Indian war and the fort fell into disrepair. During the American Revolution, the Continental Army rehabilitated the fort (1777) because of its location between the Mohawk River and Wood Creek.

Green Lakes State Park: Beautiful But Watch Your Site Level
Upon advice of some New York RVers, we booked a stay at Green Lakes State Park (map ). This park is just east of Syracuse, NY and is right along the Erie Canal historic waterway . The park itself is awesome - it has a couple lakes, a beach, a restaurant, and lots of walking trails. It also has a path to connect it to the Erie Canal trail.

Meeting Friends & Ice Cream in Albany
We’ve mentioned a few times how we love seeing friends along the way and how community is what makes this life easier!

Free New York State Museum in Albany
We visited the New York State Museum in Albany (map ) - it is 100% FREE. This museum is incredibly well done and we saw only 25% of the exhibits in the 2 hours we visited.
